Vodafone Idea’s CSR arm says it provided scholarships to 1,000 students in India in 2021, Telecom News, ET Telecom
These 1,000 students, according to the company, come from 19 states, namely Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan , Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and West Bengal.
Launched last year, the scholarships give teachers as well as students access to Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) covering a list of eligible expenses, according to an official statement.
Student eligibility is merit-based and takes place entirely online under the supervision of an independent jury, comprising prominent educators and representatives of civil society organizations, he added.
The scholarship initiative also aims to bridge the social and financial divide faced by teachers as well as students in terms of availability and accessibility to necessary resources.
According to the company, last year 200 teachers and 2,500 students were awarded scholarships.

The CSR arm of Vodafone Idea also runs programs in education, agriculture, women’s empowerment and technology across India.
