Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Prime Minister Modi’s plan to address UN climate meeting
Congress chief Jairam Ramesh on Friday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his scheduled address at the upcoming United Nations climate conference in the UK, saying he would talk about climate change when his government watered down environmental and forestry laws in India.
“Our Prime Minister will therefore be fine in Glasgow to give the world a gyaan on climate change. But at home, his government is watering down all environmental and forest laws, weakening institutions and muzzling civil society,” he said. on Twitter.
“A maximum of hypocrisy. A minimum of democracy, ”said the former trade union minister for the environment.
Climate finance will be at the center of the 26th United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP 26) to be held in the UK and attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, EU Environment Minister said on Friday, Bhupender Yadav.
The international climate conference will be held from October 31 to November 12 in Glasgow.
In another tweet, Congressman Ramesh slammed the Prime Minister over his speech to the nation on India breaking the 100 crore vaccination mark, saying he forgot those who lost lives and livelihood because of his government’s failures in dealing with the pandemic.
“Jagadguru of Jhoot (world leader in lies) has outdone himself today by rewriting history, distorting facts, distorting reality, making senseless comparisons, slapping his chest – in short, being himself. While he has forgotten those who have lost lives and livelihoods due to COVID-19 due to the failures of his government, ”Ramesh said.
